Angela Arterberry, MS, CCC-SLP Angela has over 10 years of experience as a speech- language pathologist working with children in the public school setting. She has worked with preschool students through high school, and her specialty is engaging challenged learners through child-centered, project-based learning. She is also a reading specialist and mother to a son with ADHD and a daughter. This camp has been a dream of hers for a long time. Kay Jellison, MS, CCC-SLP Kay Jellison has 9 years of experience as a speech-language pathologist working in public school and private settings. She has a specialty in working with children with challenging behaviors, social cognition deficits and severe articulation disorders. She is the mother of a son with high functioning Autism and a daughter. Her home-based private practice, Tualatin Speech Pathologists, PC, will be the site of the camp. Kay will also handle billing and payment.. Meagan Cermak, MAT Meagan is a learning specialist with the Reynolds School District where she works with students with reading, writing and math disabilities. Meagan got her Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education and her Master of Arts in Teaching in Special Education. Meagan will assist in developing our curriculum to include academic activities to help campers maintain classroom skills over the summer. She is happy to review IEPs or educational reports to tailor her services to your child's goals. We also have many teen-aged and adult volunteers who are skilled in working with children with special needs. They offer support to children during activities and encourage expressive communication skills by asking open-ended questions or describing the child's actions in rich vocabulary. Our camp offers instruction in social skills & social cognition, problem-solving, role-play, and hands-on project-based learning. Typical children, along with those with Communication Disorders, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder and developmental delays would benefit from our focus on social communication skills. |
